NYU Livestream chat and thoughts
Just thought I’d open a new thread so we can post our “live” thoughts here. I notice there are 32 other people watching…hoping some of them are people from here.
The link in case you don’t have it
You will be able to ask questions in the chat section
Yay, it’s working!

The pig brain guy is possibly going to discuss some proprietary technology, hence the reason it is not being livestreamed. Shame as it would have been very interesting.

Ah right ! Yes it would have been. Presumably all these videos will be up on the net somewhere in a few days ?

What did Sam parnia say in the opening comments. Think he and cherri on at 8.10 and 8.20 this GMT
LikeLike
Yes, and the livestream is not scheduled to restart for another 50 minutes which is after Dr Parnia’s talk. I know it says 3.10 on the site but in the link it is counting down to 3.40. That is really gutting.
LikeLike
Worse news still is the fact that it looks like Dr Parnia’s talk is not going to be live-streamed either. That is particularly disappointing as that is obviously the bit we all wanted to see. At the beginning they said that there would be some unpublished research presented during the day. I do wonder if he will mention an update which is not included in the two abstracts presented at AHA.

It dies state it from.3.10 NYC time on live stream as per the website

Agreed, and maybe they will override it, but at the moment the counter is pointing to 3.40, and in the agenda it says sessions I& and II and IV and V will be livestreamed…not session III. I hope they are wrong and it will start up at 3.10.

Not yet. Very moving account from a woman who had been on CPR and ECMO for days! No NDE. He is now talking about NDEs but no new data.

In his joke he still insists that if you’re having an OBE you’re dead – no working brain. That gotta be a good sign, otherwise he wouldn’t have made this joke

Nothing new.He only shifted that the mind can be a form of electrical magnetic waves – a form of matter.
Sad that he did not mentioned the 10 percent who had some sort of consciousness or other things he so far found.

I have posted a question about the 5 cases from abstract 387 at AHA in the comments section. Maybe he will cover these in the evening session.

Think there more at 9.40 GMT

There’s another event covered at midnight for 2 hours…may stay awake as it is the only opportunity to ask questions outside of email, which is not happening at the moment.

Got the feeling he was a bit stressed by people like us pestering him about when things will happen!! I did find it strange that he didn’t refer to the abstracts that he presented at the weekend at all. It’s a shame that presentation wasn’t livestreamed! I don’t feel bad asking about the abstracts because they are in the public domain and published on Nov 11th and presented on saturday 17th. Maybe he will say something in the evening session.
He mentioned about the other studies that he is doing, and that if we want to know anything about them to go to the NYU website…he doesn’t like social media!

He said that 60 minutes into CPR there is even normal brain like activity. Interesting. Its around 1:30. Interesting and that there are different brain states.
LikeLike
If there’s normal brain activity, I’m afraid that could mean NDEs are just brain related/caused phenomena

Last thing in the section of questions Dr. Sam Parnia said that there can be a neural pathway responsible for this in the end but that it does not make the experience not real or real. He says it at 1;51.

Be patient!
He is talking to us
Some takeaways
He considers there to have been a hit in A1
There is no brain activity in 80 percent of CA. The activity that occurs is mostly seizure like ….seems like random fires. We got that chart a while ago and that is what we concluded there and in our last thread.
He goes over A 2 and does not mention the hit in yesterday’s poster session. !
He gives reasons same ones I have been saying to figure out consciousness he needs a more controlled setting because he will get the consistent hit that tells us we need a new theory of consciousness and he reviews those theories. We have discussed here as well
He politely trashed the last question job well done.
Wish we were there Orsons questions are a lot better than the ones he got.
Nothing inconsistent with last statements.
Better oxygen better recovery but brain activity if any sure could not give us the audio hit….my opinion.

It was frustrating that none of the livestream questions were even bought up. Oh well. I suspect that will be it for a while now.
