NDEs of Blog Visitors
I am thinking of upgrading my wordpress account depending on the success of my books so I can add a forum (that would cost me $250 a year). Once that is up and running then people can create their own posts and discussions etc and I would create a section on personal NDEs. Until then I will move NDEs that are posted in my blog to here. I hate deleting them as they are people’s valuable accounts, but they do not belong in that section which I wish to keep focused on whatever the blog post is about.

Well, I’m afraid my NDE would not be acceptable as truth to at least fundamentalist Christians, since my experience indicated that to get to the heavenly realms you have to earn your way – no shortcuts. As it says in the bible, By your works you shall be known. Faith without works is as tinkling bells.I wrote the following to a friend: (Oh by the way John Cleese moderated a wonderful program on the subject when he interviewed Doctors Bruce Greyson and a host of other from the Perceptual Studies group at the University of Virginia. You can google it as om Youtube.
Here is whatt I wrote: Although raised in the Protestant tradition a near death experience over 50 years ago revealed to me that while one’s experience after death may not be exactly as expected based on traditional teaching, the Catholics appear to be right regarding purgatory.
By that I mean that there appeared to be various levels of consciousness created by the collective minds od the inhabitants. So while no one is “sent” there by God, they in effect send themselves but not voluntarily. It is all based on their inner state of mind, either dark and negative, or in some cases, pure evil. or if a kind and gentle soul the opposite becomes true as these states of consciousness are perhaps the many mansions spoken of since they can be highly spiritual. This would explain what is meant by our works we shall be known. Or ‘Faith without works is as tinkling bells’ I wrote the following: Make of it what you will.
I wrote a sort of essay on this, but briefly this was over 50 years ago, I had met a trance medium who gave free public demonstrations giving name of deceased person as well as our name. I spoken to my father through him (He still had his Scottish accent) telling me that life just goes on but without all the problems we have here. People live in houses just as before but all created by spirit. Anyway I had arranged a private meeting with him three days hence, And unbeknown to me my spirit teacher I did not know yet had planned to bring me over to meet him as follows.I had gone to sleep as usual and during the night our baby woke up crying so strangfely my wife who is a light sleeper did not wake up. Anyway I went to his room and got him settled down and came back to bed laying on my left side, trying to get back to sleep when suddenly my whole body started to tingle, almost like a vibration and then I felt my consciousness start to drift away from m body. I got a bit scared as I assumed I must be dying even though 34 or 35 at the time and in good health. Next I’m in a dark tunnel travelling very fast towards a bright light and hearing beautiful music and seeing a figure in a robe. I don’t remeber if the music was orchestral or choral or a combination of the two. We stood and talked it seems for a long time, then suddenly I was back, eyes still open and in wonder at what just happened. I was going to wake my wife and tell her but decided to wait a until morning. She woke up first I guess as as I heard her gasp. I was still groggy but asked her what was a matter as she sounded scared. She said you know that little boy doll with the blue fur in Bobby’s crib? I said yes, what about it, Well, she said when I woke up it was floating above your head in a blue light, the suddenly it was gone.Well, my wife was very down to earth person, not given to halluciations 🙂 That is when I told her about my strange experience,Three days later when I met the medium a voice came through who introduced himself as my teacher, he spoke about the incident and aske how much I had remebered, then said he had been my teacher 6000 years ago in Egypt, and that he would be taking me during sleep (not as before) to visit the various levels of consciousness. This happened over tw or three nights. He had said not to be afraid on the lower levels as no one could hurt me, One level all the faces of the people were distorted (apparently a reflection of their inner thoughts. They reeked of evil. Dark dungy suroundings, very unpleasant. Another level the pr eople looked more natural standing around in groups, chatting, one group were priests, another some gay guys, another prisoners still in prison garb. So I assume they weren’t eveil people but had lived perhaps not very exemplary lives? . Maybe pretended to be what they were not. They didn’t seem concerned about thjeir surroundings, even though not that pleasant to me, hot and stuffy. I got the impression they had no l knowledge of higher levels, this was their aurroundings they found themselves in a fter death. But again as I said before, for most people, just regular people not saints a but not sinners either were in a very nice place, just lust ike here but without all the problems of the physical world. They had music, art, literature, children who had died, animals, schools, great halls of learning, structures, no pain or suffering, no money/work other than tasks they may take on later to help people. As here a variety of vegetation, flowers, grass, Mountains, oceans, etc. Maybe various houses of worship for religious minded people. pleasant whether at all times. Probably all kinds of sports, concerts, etc. .Lastly I went to the highest level, very spiritual, where all the ascended masters like my teacher, jesus, etc., resided. Beautiful Greek or Romn type architecture,The masters were all sitting at a long table smiling, chatting and joking. They invited me to join them, which I did. I remember I disgreed with something one of them said, and they all laughed. I realized I was wrong and they smiled. Then they said they were going to conduct business and as a guest I was to sit over by the side on a bench where a girl was sitting in a flowered dress. I looked down in front of me and saw a single rose in bud. For some reason I put my fingers from both hands close but not touching, as I did little blue sparks appeared at my finger tips and the rose bud slowly opened to reveal the rose in full bloom. I have no idea what this meant but I assume symbolic in some way. I forgot to mention when I first arrived there the very air was tinged in purple – extremely spiritual. In fact I felt dirty. I knew I was not at that level. The teacher later told me that the experience was given to me as an inspiration of where I would one day reach as will all of us in time, but for many it will take many more lives. We are slow learners. Once we reach that level no need to incarnate on the earth plane anymore. Another proof was in a later meeting with the medium an entity came through who said he was my spirit guide, an Indian chief – a Cherokee, Later I went to the library and found a passage in Cherokee with the English translation. So without telling the medium when the guide came through again I repeated the words in Cherokee, he repeated what I said but very quickly and much more authentic sounding. the gave me the English translation which pf course was correct. By the way, both the teacher and the guide gave me their full names which I still remember.

I get your posts by email. I am not religious (I have a background in science) but want to leave here an experience my mom (now in her 80s) had with her brother (he was 3 years older) when they were 10 and 13, respectively, in Lithuania in 1951. Lithuania had been invaded by the Soviets/communists and Nazis during WW2, and my mom’s town of Klaipeda had been ravaged by the war (btw, Hitler gave a speech in Klaipeda before start of real hostilities as there were many German speakers in this city), just for some historical context.
My mom and her brother were not indoctrinated by religion, never read the Bible or talked about Jesus, God, the Virgin Mary, etc. Their father died during WW2 so their mom spent all her time and energy trying to get her family by (they were very poor). The mother had no time to discuss God, the Bible, etc to her children given they had far more important things to worry about like daily survival (my mom’s sister was older and would go up and down the street asking neighbors if they had food to spare).
My mom and her brother were home alone in their home in 1951 when her brother went to get some ink for his pen from the kitchen. He opened the kitchen door and yelled to my mom who was sitting close by in the adjoining room): “LOOK, LOOK!” My mom jumped up and stood by his side, neither said anything as they watched an apparition of the Virgin Mary float by the entire wall and disappear as she reached the end of the wall. The apparition could be seen from waist up (my mom approximates about 3 ft in height), a woman, hands in prayer with white veil on. They were a few feet from her and could see her very clearly, as though they were standing near a person (this was no fuzzy melted cheese Jesus moment); the kitchen had no window and was pitch black but the apparition was giving off a white light.
The two children watched in amazement, saying nothing until the apparition disappeared. Then they started talking excitedly to one another about how they had just seen the Virgin Mary. They could not wait to tell their mom when she returned late at night about what they had seen but their mom told them to stop with their childish nonsense.
I have a rational mind (3 university degrees) so I thought there surely must be a scientific explanation for what they witnessed. I looked at every option (light reflection from some picture of the Virgin Mary in their room-there were no pictures of the Virgin Mary in the home; perhaps the brother, being older, mistakenly thinking he saw the Virgin Mary then talking mom mom into believing she too saw it, but they simultaneously witnessed the apparition and both knew what they say after she disappeared…etc).
I asked my mom how it was they knew this was the Virgin Mary if they did not read the Bible and were not “indoctrinated” by religion. Lithuanians are mostly Catholic so my mom’s parents had been non practicing Catholics (mind you after the Soviets invaded communism was not exactly open to religious beliefs). My mom told me that she and her brother had been taking to a church by one of their relatives a few times as children and in the church they say icons of the Virgin Mary. What they saw at home looked somewhat similar but not exactly the same as the woman they say in the icons at church the few times they visited.
My mom recalls this experience as if it happened yesterday. She says had she been alone she would think she dreamed it all up or had a hallucination. I have psychiatrists who are friends and one was interested to meet my mom and hear about her experience (he specializes in schizophrenia and knows a thing or two about hallucinations). My mom has never had any mental health issues her entire life. The psychiatrist (he is a Catholic) believed my mom and her brother saw what they claimed to have seen (of course he is Catholic so he is biased). Anyway, I told another psychiatrist friend and he told me that when he was a teen (his father was a US military surgeon) they were stationed in Spain when he met the son of the ambassador from Peru to Spain. They became good friends and he was invited to visit his friend in Peru one summer for vacation, which he did. One evening while in Peru arrived someone who was a Nobel Prize winner in medicine; he sat with my friend and others at the dinner table. He was speaking to my friend (again, he was a teen then) and during their conversation told him how the Virgin Mary appeared to him twice as a teen and told him he would go on to do great things in medicine (this was before he even knew he would go to university to study medicine). This is an interesting anecdote (I know the name of the Nobel Prize winner but do not wish to make public as neither he nor his family ever came out in public to talk about his experience as a teen- the Nobel Prize winner in medicine died many decades ago).
My mom has no idea why she and her brother witnessed what they did. She has not become religious in the sense that she did not start to read the Bible or go to church, and she has only told some family members and one close friend about her Virgin Mary experience; she realizes most people will call her crazy or a liar if she were to discuss her experience.
Anyway, this is all to say that I think science can only take us so far. There may indeed be more than just the material world, and the Bible (Christianity) may be more than just a myth, opium for the masses (as I had thought it was).
